| There's no way the U.S. could've been prepared for the events of Sept. 11th. This was a horror movie, a combination of "Psycho", "The Shining", and the "Exocist". These "Islamic fundemental extremists" have a deep belief that their cause is just, and will obviously stop at nothing to prove it. We're not dealing with dumb people or cowards. When you see the talking heads on T.V. say: "We can take these people out anytime.", "They have a rag-tag army.", "We'll send in our troops and these cowards will give up and run.", "They're idiots!". Remember, these "idiots" kept the Russians, a world power at the time, at bay for ten years. And, make no mistake about it, they have bought the United States to it's knees! They've put the United States economy in a deeper recession than it was already in, changed air travel in this country forever, scared people away from their American lifestyles, stopped sports in this country for a week, directly put two hundred thousand people out of work, destroyed part of two of the greatest cities in the world, and oh yeah, KILLED over five thousand people! There's no way we can fight these people in the usual ways, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq are in disaray themselves. I know a lot of Americans who want to see bombs dropping, and see thousands of turbans exploding into the air, like the hats at a West Point graduation, but that's not going to happen. The problem is, the United States government is giving these "Islamic Fundemental Extremists" too much freedom. Sec. of State, Colin Powell said, "We must protect ourselves from our enemies outside of our boarders and from inside of our Boarders " . David Carary, of the Associated Press, writes, "The hijackers lived the American lifestyle... they went to health clubs, American movies, stripclubs, and to Starbucks for coffee and cookies". Benjamin Netanyahu, Former Isreali Prime Minister said, "All the Federal Marshalls and security checks in the world are not going to stop these fanatics". Osama Bin Laden isn't the problem, even if the U.S. does get him, things won't change. The carefree days of airport security...just checking for illegal aliens and drugs are over. The mobilty of these people is the problem. What should America do? One, revoke ALL temporary visas to the Middle East, and South Central Asia...people from these regions should not have student visas and should no longer have access to our educational system. WE should no longer have airline service to that region or allow them to land here. And, no private monetary transactions should be allowed in those areas. We would get our allies to go along with us. Being an American is a privledge! Visting our country comes with some responsiblity and these people have violated our rights. Arab Americans have done an great job and are part of this country, but, under the circumstances will have to understand they will be under the microscope. Is there a precedent for these sanctions? YES!!! South Africa, because of its racist policies, was barred from the world stage for many years...no planes were allowed in our country, economic sanctions were imposed, no Olympics, the list goes on and on. Cuba to this day has an economic embago that has been in place for over thirty years. This is the best inital plan. It takes away the mobilty of these people and takes away their money base. These people have achieved part of their goal. Now it's time for the U.S.A. to stop the rest of their plan and get America back to its freedom! |
