Enron... See No Evil... Hear No Evil
"If you're not cheatin' you're not tryin'", that's the stance of Enron and the Arthur Andersen Corporation. There are many angles to this story: the Bush Administration's involvement, the country's largest bankruptcy, and the Enron employees losing their life savings. Everyone knows the Bush Administration and its largest contributor, Enron, were in bed together...and the Arthur Andersen Corporation was making the bed! Even though, at this stage of the game, the Bush Administration has become "Mission Impossible" to Enron, "Disavowing any knowledge of" , even knowing how to spell Enron. The Bush Administration has said that when Enron called for help, the Administration turned a deaf ear. Enron executives have walked away with millions and their employees have lost millions. Former CEO's, Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay, claim there were no improprieties, even tho' internal memos and the Andersen Auditors say differently. A couple signs that maybe something was fishy at Enron...only executives were allowed to sell their stocks for a critical period of time, also, Bush a Chief of Staff sold his stock at the same time Enron officals sold theirs. Andersen accounting auditors report questionable accounting practices, and a healthy happy Enron executive who sold his stock holding for a reported thirty- five million ...commits sucide... Why? Oh there'll be investigations , there'll be accusations , there'll be double-secret- reverse memos found . There'll be an E-True Hollywood Story. CEO's, Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay, will write books, lecture, and appear on the Larry King Show. But, in stark contrast, Afghanistan, a "country" that housed the master-minds of the most horrific terrorist event in American History will be receiving over twenty billion dollars in American aid over the next ten years. This includes rebuilding Afghanistan's infrastructure, roads, utilities, banking, schools, mail systems, military, etc. etc... What America is doing, is building a new country. But, what about the Enron employees who were given less than two-hours notice? Those people who were the backbone of Enron...nothing! The Enron people say, "It's unfortunate.", the government is saying, "Call the Labor Dept."... Maybe the employees of Enron should declare war on Vermont, then they probably would get some foreign aid and rebuild the company. The people of Afghanistan have never paid a penny in taxes, never participated in the American way of life, but yet they get the benifits of America. The employees of Enron lost their medical benifits and 401K's . The people of Afghanistan get new schools, housing, and plenty of food. The Enron employees have to pull their kids outta college cause they can't afford to pay tuition anymore. Many can't afford to pay their mortgages and are having a tough time getting food stamps. George Bush says, "The Enron issue isn't political." He's right, it's survival! Bush has also said the Enron bankruptcy affected him personally... his mother-in-law lost eight-thousand dollars on the deal... oh boy! Former Enron CEO, Jeff Skilling, walked away with a seventy-million dollar golden parachute... but poor Ken Lay says he's down to his last fifteen- million dollars. The people of Afghanistan will be taken care of, the public will forget, but the employees of Enron won't.
